When setting out on a journey, do not consult someone who never left home

We all know Bart Simpson don’t we? Well, he came up with this idea “I can start my own business, I will start my own skating show!” Having enough self confidence, enough skills, tools, and insistence, he ran to his father and told him about it. Mr. Homer looked at him with a strange look “haha… are you for real Son? You don’t need that! I’m your dad I know better.. I am smart!  Dude you wall fall infront of the cameras and girls will laugh at you!!” Marge interrupted her husband “Bart, Don’t listen to your dad! HOMER! DON’T SAY THAT! Son I believe in you. I know that once u set your mind to something you do it. So why not? Give it a chance sweetie”.

Aren’t we faced with Mr. Homer look-alikes on daily basis? Those people are called Dream Killers. They always find the way to destroy every single idea you have, with intention or not. You come out with an idea full of confidence and with so many skills that will help you succeed. You have the experience and knowledge, you have good funding, and you’re ready to start, only to be faced with de-motivating comments.

After hearing what his mom and dad said, Bart started thinking “Can I do it? My dad has a point, I am still young and TV is scary, will my name simply shine in the world of sports? NAAAAAAAAAAAH! It won’t! Dad is right”

Guess what? We can be our own biggest dream killers. We allow inner critics, inner doubts, and inner fears to control our minds. These fears keep eating our dreams until there are no more dreams. Obtain a positive attitude! Show everyone (including yourself) how positive you are. Adopt a scenario where every time you are faced with a bad comment, to reply back with 2 good things. People will know how passionate you are about your dream and will understand more about it.
Now back to Bart, he is Confused, full of doubts and lost in thought even Lisa is wondering why he’s not annoying her as usual, he then decided to go on with his dream, he took the negative side (dad’s points) and positive side (mom’s points) and continued his path. “How about giving it a chance like mom said?” and so he did, even though his confidence has degraded. He went on, he asked his friends, and he started a market research. Again faced with negative and positive points, Bart’s insistence to start his own show lowered.

Dream killers are everywhere, family members, friends and work colleagues. You can easily spot them as soon as you have an overwhelming and exciting idea. They will do whatever they can to stop you from achieving your goal. Those people blame the circumstance, blame others for all the failures they faced, and simply they don’t want you to be successful. Misery loves company, and they want you there next to them complaining about how terrible life has treated you and not on success ladders.

After his Market research, Bart had all his questions answered. What a relief to know exactly what he’s getting into.  Knowledgeable and correct information is the way to move beyond dream killers! Our dreams will not be achieved without exploring and researching. Dream killers will always doubt your full knowledge, be prepared to answer their questions. A dream is a baby idea, explore it, study it and learn everything about it. Never let it stop at being just a dream. Know exactly what you want. Set a precise goal and start your journey.

Well, cutting the story short, Bart started his show. Some members of the community gave wonderful comments of the show! They even started calling and asking for autographs. Others thought, “What a waste and a loss of money! Any kid can do that.” However Bart knows that it wasn’t a waste! He learned from this experience, he won in all cases! The community’s feedback can show two things; that your idea was a huge success which will lead to bigger self confidence, or that it wasn’t that good, and only then you gain experience on how to make it better next time. Dream Killers will never let you reach Community Feedback, Avoid them with all cost! Pursue, Pursue and Pursue. How can you know if you’ll succeed if you don’t try? You can’t! So do it. Give it your best shot, if you succeeded then CONGRATULATIONS for such success, if not, again CONGRATULATIONS for the experience. It’s a win-win situation!

Bart's Map to Success

Marge proud of her son gave him a big hug and reminded him of the saying “Successful people are the ones who use the stones they are thrown with to build their own castles”
Mingle with positive people, like Marge. They have a positive mindset that will always find the good side in bad situations; they are programmed to find sun rays behind each cloud.

So I am telling you, go out to the world. Pursue your dreams. It’s the only way to live life! And a little note from me, thanks to all my dream killers, who never though MOD will succeed. You made me try harder and harder! BIG THANKS TO YOU! Look where we are now.

  9. Dream killing is a gene found in so many people in our society, you don't need bart simpson to prove your story when you have half of our population to do what homer did.
It's metaphrically sound, but like i said, dream killing I'm afraid, is like drinking water these days... people would like to believe that the possible is impossible so that they won't have to carry out anything, ( tanbleh ) ...
If you believe in something, go for it, period, don't let no body tell you you cant do it, they find something that they cant do, and then they tell you you cant do it.
    Brainz your self out.
Thanks for this illuminating article. i enjoyed reading it.

you are 100% right! as marge told her son “Successful people are the ones who use the stones they are thrown with to build their own castles”
this is an attribute only found in successful people! they know how to turn situations around and use critics to build their confidence! i am a total believer that if you were not amazing and impressing you wont be criticized right? ;)

thanks sweetie for the lovely contribution!
