He Took a Bullet for Palestine- No for Violence

A few days ago, I was sleeping when I woke up on my friend's call. She was crying on the phone. A friend of her brother has been shot on the 15th of May, 2011 on the Lebanese borders with Palestine. My friend was crying sadly over him so she called me to spill her heart out!

I never use Motivation of the Day for political issues or to reflect a political point of view and I never will, but that day I felt so sad about this guy who is still young and has his life ahead of him.

For those who never heard about Lebanon or Palestine. Well, those are countries in the Middle East.

Palestinians whether those living in Palestine, or Lebanon, or Syria and even in Jordan has planned and went out on a non-violent commemoration and headed to the Borders. Young youth from those countries have decided that we have the right to return to Palestine; our homeland after 63 years of displacement in other countries.

63 years of the Nakbeh "Refugee Revolution" against the Israeli occupation in Palestine, and 15th of May is its anniversary.

Munib Al-Masri has been one of those young guys (23 years old) who headed to the Palestinian- Lebanese Borders. He went there with a group of friends and he has been shot by the Israeli fires. His injury was critical and he was rushed to the hospital and went under surgery for hours. The Shocking news came out! Munib has lost a kidney, the spleen, part of the Stomach and the bullet reached the spine. Many prayers are held by his family and friends for him.

Munib Al-Masri

I don’t know Munib, I have never heard of him before. But the grave situation he is in right now made my heart ache. I mean many people are killed on daily basis and it really hurts a lot to hear this and do nothing!

"Israel caused another massacre and killed over 20 people, mainly Palestinian refugees on 4 borders… attacking unarmed, non-violent protesters with great force all military means and equipment imaginable and likewise violence." Click here to read more on this

I can only write and show a very human-point of view. As I said before, I am not political and never will be, but those are human beings slaughtered every day. Why? It's their country and they have the right to be there more than anyone else. 20 people killed? Too much? This is happening every day in Palestine and the Gaza Strip! And we are all pretending as if nothing is happening.

I know that the media must be corrupted all over the world and probably most of the foreign countries knows nothing about the Palestinian/Israeli situation in the Middle East, and it’s not their fault, however the fault is to stay blinded and never seek the truth. Don’t be blinded by the media people. In any situation you face, for example a fight between two people you know in your family, you must hear BOTH parties before judging right? So the media is just showing the Palestinians as terrorists and bombers but nothing about the opposite situation.

Let me ask you one thing, when a burglar enters your house should you sit there and let him steal anything he wants? Should you let him take your wife? Kill you kids? If you kill him as self-defense, will the law accuse you of man-slaughter? No! I don’t think so, because you simply have the right to defend your home. It's your home and he is the intruder! It's just a simple example and there are many more to say.

The Palestinian people are not quitters and as long as we have blood in our veins and breath in our lungs we will keep protesting, we will keep fighting for the right to return to our beloved country Palestine; our homeland.

The Nakba will never be over until we return!
